On page 105, Marzano notes the most effective use of generating hypothesis is that which asks the learner to clarify thinking thru writing. \nThe chapter also provided us with some ideas for collecting the student's hypothesis through templates, sentence stems, audio tapes, and rubrics.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"25396449","dateCreated":"1277435772","smartDate":"Jun 24, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"smattocks","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/smattocks","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/psucitw2010.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/25396449"},"dateDigested":1532390754,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Reflection on Chapter 9","description":"Our 6th grade science teachers used the ideas from Chapter 9 this year and probably don't realize that what they did (or had their kids do)was so powerful. They held a science fair, and one may think that science fairs have been around for a long time. But, one was so neat about this science fair was that the kids were explaining their thoughts and reasons why things happened as they showed their experiments to adult visitors. Articulating that information is definitely demonstrating their understanding. It was really neat to watch.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"25394749","dateCreated":"1277430512","smartDate":"Jun 24, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"cxw200","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/cxw200","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/psucitw2010.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/25394749"},"dateDigested":1532390754,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Chapter 9 thoughts","description":"I think it's great that Marzano talks about generating and testing hypotheses as something that is reasonable for students of all ages to engage in. Hypothesis sounds like such a big and complicated word, but really students need to be able to engage in these types of meaningful discussions in a variety of subjects (p.110, last paragraph). I'm thinking I could implement this strategy in small groups focused on friendship and problem solving skills...","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"25393469","dateCreated":"1277425847","smartDate":"Jun 24, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"cld181","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/cld181","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/psucitw2010.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/25393469"},"dateDigested":1532390754,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Reflections on Chapter 9: Testing Hypothesis","description":"I was thinking of what Becci shared about using graphic organizers to help with remembering information read in chapters. The terms deductive and inductive are not always clear (at least for me, anyway)to apply correctly to hypothesis scenarios, so I thought I would give it a try:

\n (my graphic organizer will not transfer from the Word document- sorry!!!)
\n
\nAnother thought is to use two colors of highlighters as text is being read to make the contrasts in study \u2018pop\u2019 out when skimming material.

\nPS: Does anyone know how to upload the graphic organizer from my Word file to this page? Thanks!!","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
